Back To Basics: Light: What it is, Measuring it and Exposure Control

In essence, and quite scientifically, the Merriam-Webster dictionary defines photography as, "the art or process of producing images by the action of radiant energy and especially light on a sensitive surface."

What it is...
Most people take for granted that light is always there... well, that is until you become a photographer and find yourself in a "dim" situation, with little available light, no large apertures and no tripod! Oh boi...

Let's avoid getting into Quantum Theory but quite simply light is a name for a range of electromagnetic radiation that can be detected by the human eye. What does that mean? It's particles and waves that move through space and have the following characteristics:

Wavelengths - The Color of light.
Amplitude - The Brightness of light.
Polarization - The Angle of light.
